Took a little road trip and stopped by Arbuckle Mountains Fried Pies, a little piece of heaven about 50 miles north of the Oklahoma Texas border on Interstate 35.

The menu covers both sweet and savory cravings, although one particular savory pie didn’t appear to be offered. I’d have been happy with emperor or king, but the only birds on the menu were cluckers

Broccoli? The bear doesn’t do health food!

This place is known for their sweet pies, though. The Servant is fond of the vanilla. He says it’s as good as our Texas ice cream (Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla)… I should schedule a psych eval for him.

Hmmm. Blackberry? Lemon? Chocolate? Yes yes yes

My Person made sure we had a solid assortment. You get a free pie after buying a dozen.

Moaaaaaar!

Not far from the pie shop is Turner Falls, a really fun place to camp and explore. There is a wind farm nearby and the whoosh whoosh can be heard gently over the rolling hills of the Arbuckle Mountains.

Imagine that, windmills on the prairie

It was time to hit the road. We’re headed to the Gulf to folic in the saltwater and dodge this heatwave.

One for the road
